In our October issue, we will be touring the interior of art dealer Olga's live/work space. Olga is known for her contact bridge nights, so we cooked up some treats that would work for any games night. We also asked illustrator Katy Dockrill to draw the DIY bowl decorations you see pictured above.
Come back on Wednesday for the latest issue of Covet Garden Magazine. In the meantime, here's a crunchy treat and a creamy dip to try out.
Crispy Curried Chickpeas
You might want to double this recipe….It’s hard to keep the bowl full while you wait for all the players to arrive…
1 can (540 ml) chickpeas
2 cups sunflower oil for frying
3/4 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp cumin (ground)
1/2 tsp coriander (ground)
1/8 tsp masala
1 1/4 tsp Cajun spice mix
1/2 tsp salt
Rinse and drain chickpeas then pat dry with paper towel. In a medium sized sauce pan, heat oil on Med/High heat.
Fry Chick peas in three or four batches until golden brown and crispy (about 3 mins)
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel.
Once each batch has been fried and blotted but are still warm, toss in a bowl with remaining ingredients.

Yogurt, Horseradish and Dill Dip
1 cup yogurt
2 tbls creamy mild prepared horseradish
2 tbls chopped fresh dill
Salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients and season to taste.
This amazingly creamy and flavourful dip can bring new life to a bag of potato chips or be used with the colourful and tasty root vegetable chips found in our October issue. And let us know your favourite games night treats in the comments below!
