Remembrance Day With Julie Moon

We were first introduced to the work of ceramicist Julie Moon at the Outdoor Art show many years ago. What nabbed our attention was her beautiful porcelain poppy jewellery.

Of course, Moon has created all kinds of amazing work — ranging from delicate floral stickpins to large wall sculptures — that explore the themes of beauty, identity and gender. Drawing from traditional Korean motifs, her recent work also stretches the limits of form, pattern and multiplicity.

Remembrance Day is November 11. The poppy, of course, is a powerful symbol of acknowledging those who have died in armed conflict ("To Remember Is To End All Wars.")
