Vera Neumann, née Saloff, was one of the most inspired textile designers of the 20th century. Best known for her silk scarves, she also brought bright colours and bold graphics to dresses, housewares, bed sheets and table linens.
The book, Vera: The Art and Life of an Icon, is more than a colletion of pretty pictures, it also charts the story of a woman who believed that fine art should be accessible to everyone. While you can still find brand new Vera at Anthropologie, affordable vintage pieces can be found at thrift shops, on eBay or etsy. New designers also love creating new objects with the brightly coloured textiles.
Do you have any Vera? What's your favourite piece? Let us know in the comments.

Oh I love the black and white dress, it has a very good pattern and I love the red bow around the waist as a cute elegant accent.
Oh, I have some awesome teal and lime mugs that I got on clearance at Anthropologie - $3 each!!!!! I didn't know what "We love Vera" meant, so thanks for schooling me on this amazing designer!
Great post! In addition to our line at Anthro we have linens, dishes, scarves, and paper products available in Bloomingdales, Macy's, Lord and Taylor, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc. Come check out our blog at http://theveracompany.tumblr.com
